Chicago homeowner shoots intruder in chest during struggle, police say<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nAn 80-year-old Chicago man was hospitalized Monday following a home invasion Monday morning in which he shot an intruder.<\/p>\n

The unidentified man responded to a knock on his door around 10:30 a.m. in the 8500 block of West Catherine Avenue, the Chicago Police Department reported.<\/p>\n

When he opened the door, a man and woman allegedly forced their way into the home. The man began fighting with the male suspect.<\/p>\n

“The victim was battered and sustained several injuries throughout the body and was transported to Resurrection Hospital in critical condition,” the department said.<\/p>\n

At some point during the struggle, the man, who holds an Illinois Firearms Owner’s Identification (FOID) card shot the suspect in the chest, police said. Both suspects fled the home.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Billings police said Monday the 25-year-old woman shot the two men, ages 29 and 37, in an apparent case of self-defense.<\/p>\n

“As far as the victim using a firearm for self-defense the law is pretty clear on people\u2019s right to use self-defense when they can articulate a threat to themselves or others,” police Lt. Matt Lennick said in a statement about the incident to Q2. “Like all cases of this nature the case will be reviewed by the County Attorney\u2019s Office and they could bring fourth criminal charges against the shooter if they deemed the threat didn\u2019t meet the level of force used.”<\/p>\n

The shooting happened at about 12:45 p.m. Saturday in an alley in the 2000 block of Cook Avenue. Police described the incident on social media as a “possible robbery with shots fired.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nA San Francisco pizza shop fired an employee after a police union said several officers were told they were not welcome at the restaurant.<\/p>\n

The San Francisco Police Officer’s Association posted on Twitter Sunday that several officers went into Pizza Squared and were told they “were not welcome in the restaurant.”<\/p>\n

The union said it reached out to the owners about the “shameful and hateful actions of one of their employees.”<\/p>\n

On Monday, the pizzeria tweeted that the employee was a trainee on his third day. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n
