Buffalo Resident Fires Gun to Defend Store from Looter during Winter Storm<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA Buffalo, N.Y., man with a firearm defended a store in the city against a looter looking to take advantage of the deadly winter storm that roared through the region over the weekend.<\/p>\n

A robber was attempting to break into Skys the Limit Hair & Beauty downtown when a crowd of angry, bundled-up residents, some holding brooms and sticks, approached the scene. One man produced a large gun and fired two shots in the general vicinity of the shop, as seen in video footage posted to Twitter.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was one of the neighbors that probably had business in the area,\u201d the manager of the store \u201cspeculated\u201d to the New York Post. \u201cAs far as I know, he shot in the air to scare them off. Because I guess he was sick of them breaking into one of the businesses across the street or something. He just don\u2019t want them to break anything anymore.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nA man tried to steal a car that was left running in the driveway of a Gulfport home on Monday evening, then shot the car owner\u2019s father during a resulting confrontation, police said.<\/p>\n

Vinyai Yukondrai Rice, 19, faces charges of carjacking, attempted felony murder, carrying a concealed firearm and grand theft of a firearm.<\/p>\n

Police said Rice tried to steal a car that was left running in a driveway in the1000 block of 56th Street S in Gulfport at 6:40 p.m. Monday. The car\u2019s owner confronted Rice, who was in the front seat of the vehicle, according to court records.<\/p>\n

Rice tried diving away, dragging the man along with him for several feet before crashing the car, police said. The man and his father pulled Rice from the car. Rice then fired a gun twice, shooting the car owner\u2019s father, which left a laceration on the man\u2019s upper left arm, according to court records.<\/p>\n

The car owner\u2019s relatives and passersby pinned Rice to the ground until police arrived.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
