Representative Katie Porter (D-CA), who I’d never heard of before this election cycle, but who is popular among the left because she uses white boards in her questioning of witnesses (no joke), has been accused of retaliating against a Wounded Warrior. The crime? She got COVID.<\/p>\n

Democrat Rep. Katie Porter (CA) is under fire for allegedly punishing one of her Wounded Warrior Fellows after she accused the staffer of giving her coronavirus, according to recently released text messages.<\/p>\n

Sasha Georgiades is a U.S. Navy veteran who joined Porter\u2019s office as a Wounded Warrior Fellow in the fall of 2020. Although Georgiades\u2019s fellowship was set to end in August 2022, she said her fellowship was cut a few weeks short after she failed to follow \u201coffice protocols\u201d on coronavirus.<\/p>\n

In text messages between Georgiades and Porter, Porter said, \u201cit\u2019s really disappointing\u201d that Georgiades did not \u201cfollow office protocol on testing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although Georgiades offered her apologies, Porter was not moved.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m terribly sorry. You\u2019re right I should have done better. Just because I felt okay in the moment doesn\u2019t mean that I was,\u201d Georgiades responded.<\/p>\n

Georgiades allegedly violated the testing protocol by failing to take a coronavirus test as soon as she felt unwell, Reason reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the time I felt okay, just sore as if had worked out too hard,\u201d Georgiades told Reason. \u201cIt was hard to differentiate until the next morning and as soon as I felt sick I took a test, told the district director I had it, and stayed home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then, Porter lashed out at Georgiades for allegedly giving her coronavirus.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell you gave me Covid,\u201d Porter said. \u201cIn 25 months, it took you not following the rules to get me sick. My children have nobody to care for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Georgiades also told Reason that Porter \u201cnever spoke a word to me after this.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the text message exchange was published, Porter\u2019s office denied retaliating against Georgiades because she caught the coronavirus.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis former employee was not fired. She was a fellow in our office, and weeks before she breached COVID protocol in July, we had already mutually agreed on an end date in August 2022,\u201d Porter spokesman Jordan Wong said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sounds like semantics. She wasn’t\u00a0fired<\/em>, but she was told to not come to the office any more. We didn’t fire her, we just didn’t want to see or hear from her ever again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
