Winchester Model 1886<\/a><\/p>\n Ludlow homeowner shot alleged thief in self-defense, prosecutor says<\/strong> KENTON COUNTY, Ky. (WXIX) – A Ludlow man will not be charged after shooting a man police say broke into several cars in the area.<\/p>\n Damon Hammons is the man recorded on video trying to break into cars as well as a home shortly before he was shot, according to Kenton County Commonwealth\u2019s Attorney Rob Sanders.<\/p>\n Sanders says the man who shot Hammons acted in self-defense. Cronkleton The man killed in the shooting was identified as William F. Blakely of Belton, police said.<\/p>\n Officers responded to an armed disturbance about 9:30 p.m. in the 100 block of W. Hargis Street. Arriving officers found Blakely who was allegedly armed with a handgun. He allegedly refused follow officers commands to drop the gun, police said.<\/p>\n A taser was used. Blakely, however, allegedly continued refuse to drop the weapon. He allegedly raised the gun toward an officer.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n 1 \/ 0 \/ 0 Bill Blakely of Belton is allegedly dead.<\/p>\n HPD: Man shot by police following carjacking, crash in Sharpstown area<\/strong> Author: Jaime E. Chief Kevin Deese said the incident started out as a carjacking on Woodland Park near Meadowglen Lane at about 6:48 a.m. Officers then spotted the carjacker in the stolen sedan at about 7:20 a.m. behind the old Sharpstown Mall, now known as PlazAmericas, and began following him.<\/p>\n The officers tried to pull him over on Bellaire Boulevard, but the driver sped off. Police said he eventually crashed into an innocent driver, disabling the stolen car.<\/p>\n The carjacker took off running to a nearby apartment complex, police said. After running through the complex, the man made it to a gate and could not go any farther.<\/p>\n Police ordered him to surrender but he refused. Police said the officers tried to use a Taser to stop him but it was not effective.<\/p>\n The carjacker then ran around the gate to the courtyard. Police said he pulled out a gun and officers fired two shots at him.<\/p>\n The carjacker continued running through the complex and went up a stairway before there was another round of shots fired at him from the officers, police said.
