Trespasser shot dead after stabbing Daytona Beach officer in the face<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA police officer was stabbed in the face by a felon trespassing at a gas station Thursday morning prompting him to fatally shoot the man, Daytona Beach police Chief Jakari Young said.<\/p>\n

The officer suffered a cut to his left upper jaw line, said Daytona Beach police spokeswoman Carrie McCallister.<\/p>\n

The suspect was identified as Benjamin Joseph Remley, 36, of Deltona. Florida Department of Corrections records show Remley did three years in prison for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was released Feb. 6.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Remley stabbed the Daytona Beach officer at a Sunoco gas station at 2501 W. International Speedway Blvd. at 9:11 a.m., McCallister said.<\/p>\n

The officer, a veteran of the Daytona Beach Police Department, was released from Halifax Health Health Medical Center Thursday afternoon after getting treated for the knife cut to his jaw, McCallister said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Dallas store customer facing murder charge for shooting unarmed robber<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA Dallas man is charged with murder for shooting and killing an unarmed robber he believed was attacking two dollar store employees.<\/p>\n

After the shooting, the man stayed on the scene and spoke with police.<\/p>\n

Dallas police say 47-year-old Kevin Jackson was legally carrying the gun he used to shoot and kill 26-year-old Phillip Betts inside a Family Dollar on South Lancaster Road in Oak Cliff Tuesday night. He told police he was worried about the safety of the two employees.<\/p>\n

The murder charge raises questions about when it is appropriate to step in and use deadly force.<\/p>\n

According to an arrest affidavit, a female assistant manager recognized Betts as someone who frequently steals. She asked Betts to leave and to return stolen items from his coat.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
