9-year-old among Target shoppers stabbed before guard stops attack, CA cops say<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA man who armed himself with a butcher knife for sale stabbed a 9-year-old boy and another shopper at a Target store in downtown Los Angeles, California police reported.<\/p>\n

A store security guard shot and killed the man at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the store near Figueroa and 7th Streets, Chief Michel Moore said at a news briefing, as shared by ABC7 on YouTube.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a troubling night with Los Angeles here \u2014 to see this type of violence in our city,\u201d Moore said.<\/p>\n

After picking up the knife, the 40-year-old man told a 9-year-old boy \u201che was going to stab him and kill him,\u201d Moore said. The boy, who had become separated from his mother in the store, tried to walk away.<\/p>\n

The man \u201cwithout any further provocation\u201d stabbed the child from behind, Moore said. Other shoppers came to his aid while the attacker moved away.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw the kid who was stabbed stumble his way towards me,\u201d Target employee Justin Orkin told KNBC. \u201cAs he was doing that, the guy was running the other way, running away.\u201d<\/p>\n

The man encountered two shoppers in an aisle and \u201cbrutally\u201d stabbed a 25-year-old woman in the chest, Moore said. Others pulled the injured woman into a pharmacy and closed the gate.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can imagine the mayhem that was going on,\u201d Moore said. Another woman was trampled by shoppers fleeing the store.<\/p>\n

The man moved to the front of the store, where an armed security guard confronted him, Moore said. The guard shot him in the stomach.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nHPD Assist. Chief Wyatt Martin said the officers were lucky to not have been wounded after the windshield of their patrol unit was left riddled with bullet holes.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nHOUSTON \u2014 A man armed with a rifle was shot multiple times after opening fire on police during a shootout early Thursday in northwest Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.<\/p>\n

This happened just before 1 a.m. on Bingle Road near Highway 290. Houston police said this started when police spotted a car driving erratically, running red lights, and speeding.<\/p>\n

Police tried to stop the 34-year-old driver, but then he threw something out of the car before turning south on Bingle Road. The driver then lost control of his vehicle, crashed into a tree and spun around.<\/p>\n

The driver then open fire with a short “AK-47” style rifle that didn\u2019t have a stock through his windshield at the police, HPD Assist. Chief Wyatt Martin said. The two officers returned fire hitting the shooter multiple times.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
