That’s right, Old Glory herself is now offensive to American collegiates.\u00a0 The symbol of the greatest country, a beacon of freedom to the oppressed, and the only flag flown by men standing on the moon is a “malicious” “statement”. I’m sure the prisoners at the Buchenwald, Dachau, Dora-Mittelbau, Flossenb\u00fcrg, and Mauthausen concentration camps were equally offended by the presence of the red, white, and blue on the uniforms of their liberators.<\/p>\n

Pitzer College event staff manager and student, Zoe Brin, recently sent out a formal request to students demanding the American flag be taken down from one of the campus residences.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a formal request to whomever [sic] lives there to take it down, immediately.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe American flag is not only a symbol of hatred, but a threat to students of color, and makes a multitude of students feel unsafe. It is not merely a flag; it is a statement.\u201d<\/p>\n
