YHGTBFWM\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>A similar profile of Johnson also appeared in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarynews.com\/richard-johnson---nominee-jpg\/image_0eb07c6a-af5e-11eb-88f1-7b2d3c7d73de.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Military News<\/a>, in May 2021 which appears to be a publication related to The Flagship.\u00a0 It was essentially the same writeup.<\/p>\r\n<blockquote>It has been reported that for a Veteran&#8217;s Day event in 2021, Johnson wore medals on his jacket.\u00a0 He wore the same jacket and medals later that evening at an American Legion meeting. He went to boot camp\/ basic training (the service branch was not mentioned, however) but did not graduate. There was no reason given as to why he allegedly did not graduate.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">.<\/p>\r\nAll of this doubt and speculation prompted people to contact Military Phony to see if we were could help to get to the bottom of Johnson&#8217;s claims. \r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-text-align-center has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #d8c5a7;\"><strong>. . . . .<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n <strong>ACTIONS CONDUCTED BY MILITARY PHONIES<\/strong> \r\n\r\n Richard Johnson&#8217;s military records were ordered through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.\u00a0 We had to file with the U.S. Army, the U.S. Marine Corps, and the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) to account for all claims. Then, the DoD Manpower \/ SCRA results seem to address 1996 which would have been a year later.\u00a0 He was in the Marine Corps Reserve.\u00a0 However, it was only for a few months &#8211; 39 days to be exact.\u00a0 This does not appear to be enough time to complete basic training if this is what this active duty represents. However, there was little to no opportunity for him to have been in combat during this short period of active duty.<br \/><br \/><strong>RANK<br \/><br \/><\/strong>Johnson was discharged from the Army as a PV2 (E-2) vs. the SGT (E-5) claimed.\u00a0 No indication of a Marine Corps rank.\u00a0 The USMC could not locate records on him and pointed to the NPRC, which only came up with inactive Army reserve records.<br \/><br \/><strong>AIRBORNE<br \/><br \/><\/strong>There is no supportive documentation that shows Johnson attending or completing Airborne training.\u00a0 He speaks of serving with the &#8220;10th Battalion Rangers and attached with the 101th Airborne&#8221; while in the Army.\u00a0 Perhaps he meant in some support role and was not Airborne qualified.\u00a0 The implication is strong, however.<br \/><br \/><strong>COMBAT<br \/><br \/><\/strong>His records do not support the claims that Johnson served in combat.\u00a0 He would have had to serve in combat to be a recipient of the Purple Heart.\u00a0 It is not in any of the FOIA results we obtained.<br \/><br \/><strong>AWARDS<br \/><br \/><\/strong>Johnson&#8217;s records show no award of the Purple Heart.\u00a0 There is not even an NDSM listed so that further points to him not completing basic training.<br \/><br \/><strong>POW<br \/><br \/><\/strong>Johnson is not listed in the obvious places &#8211; he is not accounted for under the DPAA database lists. Although one can split hairs over everything else, this is the most egregious of the claims.<br \/><br \/><strong>SUMMARY<br \/><br \/><\/strong>If Richard Elmer Johnson has used any of these claims to gain anything of value, he could violate the Stolen Valor Act.<br \/><br \/><\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>Well, well. It looks like little Dickie has some splainin&#8217; to do. There seem to be a lot of people under the impression he did 11 years of military service but even if you use new math, it doesn&#8217;t add up.\u00a0 P.O.W. claims ?\u00a0 That kind of thing just turns my stomach.\u00a0 Purple Heart ?\u00a0 Why doesn&#8217;t the Marine Corps or Army seem to know anything about that?\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>A member of the VFW is required to submit a copy of their DD214 to join a Post.\u00a0 Did Richard Johnson submit a falsified version of an official government document to become a member of the VFW?\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>Why,\u00a0 somebody please explain why the <del>VFW<\/del> American Legion did not require an officer in the <del>VFW<\/del>\u00a0 American Legion to have their records verified before being sworn in.\u00a0 If these claims are indeed false and Richard Johnson can not prove otherwise, \u00a0I also hold the <del>VFW<\/del> American Legion responsible.\u00a0 They will have damaged the reputation of Veterans everywhere and need to held accountable.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>I am a USCCA Certified Instructor and Range Safety Officer.
