Tom Brady\u00a0has compared the slog of playing in an NFL season to \u201cgoing away on deployment in the military.\u201d<\/p>\n

Appearing on his \u201cLet\u2019s Go!\u201d podcast on Monday, the 45-year-old Brady was speaking with cohost Jim Gray and\u00a0NBA\u00a0superstar Kevin Durant about the mindset top-tier athletes need to adopt to cope with the rigors of professional sport.<\/p>\n

When discussing the balance between his job and his life, Brady said: \u201cI almost look at a football season like I\u2019m going away on deployment for the military. And it\u2019s like: \u2018Man, here I go again.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd, there\u2019s only one way to do it, and Jim, we\u2019ve talked from time to time just about, how do you enjoy certain moments of it?\u201d said the seven-time Super Bowl winner.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Yes, it is just like a military deployment.\u00a0 Often, I turn over to talk to my wife in my poster bed in my five-star hotel room and whisper sweet nothings because I’m on radio silence.\u00a0 I have to stand in line behind my wife to get cracked lobster and champagne.\u00a0 It sucks.<\/p>\n

After receiving backlash for the comparison, Brady opened his Thursday media availability by apologizing, calling the metaphor a \u201cvery poor choice of words.\u201d<\/p>\n
