This year, I gunned for the actual day he landed, October 12, 1492. <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">So,<\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Happy Columbus Day<\/span><\/strong>&#8230; Based on the actual landing date (smile).<\/p>\n<p>There are certain members of our society who have demonized Christopher Columbus. They are not armed with the facts, but with misinformation. There were certain realities that existed around the time that we would disapprove of. However, that does not mean that we should judge them based on our standards. There was a lot of good that occurred as a result of European exploration and conquest. For example, cannibalistic religious and cultural practices were put to an end in areas that the Spaniards controlled.
