Man fatally shot after striking deputy with car, authorities say<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA 34-year-old man was fatally shot by a San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy Saturday night in Rancho Cucamonga. The man allegedly used his vehicle to hit the deputy, pinning him between two cars, and emerged from the vehicle holding a knife, according to the Sheriff’s Department.<\/p>\n

The shooting occurred at 7:15 p.m. in a parking lot near the intersection of Rochester Avenue and Foothill Boulevard. Two sheriff’s deputies were searching a vehicle related to a retail theft investigation when a Hyundai Elantra drove toward them, pinning a deputy between the cars, the department said in a statement.<\/p>\n

“The driver of the car got out and came at the deputy, armed with a knife,” the statement read. A deputy then shot the man, identified by police as Marlon Bonds of Santa Monica.<\/p>\n

The deputy, who has not been identified, suffered injuries to the leg and was treated at a hospital.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Intoxicated intruder shot and killed by Patterson homeowner, Sheriff\u2019s Office reports<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA Patterson woman acted in self-defense when she fatally shot an intoxicated intruder as her husband struggled to keep the man out of their home, the Stanislaus County Sheriff\u2019s Office reported.<\/p>\n

Patterson Police Services deputies were dispatched Saturday night at 10:20 p.m. to a report of shots fired at a residence on the 500 block of Ashwood Lane, according to a news release.<\/p>\n

The caller reported getting a phone call from a female, Mandarin-speaking neighbor saying she had just shot and killed an intruder.<\/p>\n

Arriving deputies found a man, later identified as 22-year-old Patterson resident Angelo Santana, on the ground near the entryway to the house. To secure the scene, deputies established a perimeter and used a loudspeaker to call anyone out of the residence.<\/p>\n

The preliminary investigation, including looking at surveillance camera footage and interviewing witnesses and the couple involved, indicates that heavily intoxicated Santana tried to force entry into the home.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
