Customer holds down robbery suspect<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA Kingston man was held down by a customer after he forcefully stole money from a clerk at the Sunoco service station on Academy Street late Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

Steven Anthony White, 30, of Penn Street, grabbed the cash as the clerk was counting the currency that was used by a customer to purchase gasoline at about 11:15 p.m., according to court records.<\/p>\n

After White allegedly grabbed the money, the customer pinned him down onto the floor until police arrived.<\/p>\n

Police in court records say White had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and displayed bloodshot eyes and struggled while standing and walking.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Yakima deputy fatally shoots man he chased into a cornfield<\/strong><\/p>\n

A Yakima County sheriff\u2019s deputy shot and killed a man after the deputy chased him into a cornfield north of Toppenish on Thursday, police said.<\/p>\n

The deputy tried to stop the man\u2019s car around 2:25 a.m. and began a pursuit, The Yakima Herald-Republic reported.<\/p>\n

Selah police Chief Dan Christman, who heads the Yakima County Special Investigations Unit, said during the chase, the vehicle left U.S. Highway 97 and the man ran into the cornfield.<\/p>\n

Christman said only that the man then \u201ctook action\u201d that led the deputy to shoot. He said the shooting remains under investigation.<\/p>\n

The deputy and Washington State Patrol troopers carried the man out of the cornfield to a road where they and paramedics attempted first aid, Christman said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
