Alianza Americas says they are a “network of migrant-led organizations supporting immigrants across the United States.”\u00a0 They filed suit against Gov. DeSantis this week over the immigrant flights to Martha’s Vineyard (one presumes on NIMBY Air.)<\/p>\n
Alianza Americas has received a total of $1,383,947 from George Soros’<\/a> Open Society Foundations between 2016 and 2020, OSF’s records show.<\/p>\n
The grants came from three of his nonprofits: Open Society Institute, Open Society Policy Center and Foundation to Promote Open Society.<\/p>\n
The law firm filing the suit, Lawyers for Civil Rights<\/a>, received $50,000 from the Borealis Philanthropy in 2019, tax forms show. Borealis is a left-wing donor-advised fund that acts as an\u00a0intermediary steering Democratic money to organizations.<\/p>\n
Borealis has partnered with Black Lives Matter and the left-wing Marguerite Casey Foundation, which advocates for the abolishment of policing and prisons.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation has also awarded $1.26 million to Alianza Americas between 2008 and 2020, according to grants posted on its website.<\/p>\n
The MacArthur Foundation funds liberal endeavors and said in September 2020<\/a> that it was awarding $25 million in grants to address “anti-Black racism, support Native Americans impacted by COVID-19, strengthen voter education and mobilization and combat voter suppression.”<\/p>\n
The class-action suit<\/a> filed by Lawyers for Civil Rights in the District of Massachusetts\u00a0alleges that DeSantis and others “designed and executed a premeditated, fraudulent and illegal scheme centered on exploiting this vulnerability for the sole purpose of advancing their own personal, financial and political interests.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

DeSantis is accused of a variety of crimes, with evidence cited such as offering immigrants free $10 MacDonald’s gift certificates. (The horror! What’s that buy nowadays, a kiddie meal?) According to his spokesperson, Taryn Fenske:<\/p>\n
“If these activists spent even a fraction of this time and effort at the border, perhaps some accountability would be brought to the Biden administration\u2019s reckless border policies that entice illegal immigrants to make dangerous and often lethal journeys through Central America and put their lives in the hands of cartels and \u2018coyotes,\u2019” Fenske said.<\/p>\n
Fenske provided Fox News with a copy of a consent form \u2014 available in English and Spanish \u2014 that she said was given to migrants before they boarded.<\/p>\n
The form states, “I agree to hold the benefactor or its designed representatives harmless of all liability arising out of or in any way relating to any injuries and damages that may occur during the agreed transport to locations outside of Texas until the final destination in Massachusetts<\/a>.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
