President Biden, in an interviw aired Sunday on CBS’ “60 Minutes”, says the Covid\u00a0 pandemic is “over”, that inflation has slowed to a crawl and he will have that remaining pesky inflation handled soon.<\/p>\n
\nPresident Joe Biden expressed optimism about the direction of the US economy Sunday, saying America will be able to rein in historically high inflation and that he\u2019s hoping the Federal Reserve will achieve a \u201csoft landing\u201d by slowing economic growth without going into recession.<\/p>\n
US inflation this year has soared to the highest levels seen since the early 1980s as a confluence of factors \u2014 including the pandemic, supply chain snags, and Russia\u2019s war in Ukraine \u2014 have upended the global economy.<\/p>\n
Biden attempted to temper those concerns and expressed optimism that the worst may be over, \u201cLet\u2019s put this in perspective. [The] inflation rate month-to-month was just an inch, hardly at all,\u201d he said in the interview.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

So he is saying the inflation slowed to “just an inch” last month when it was less than a point lower than the highest CPI reading (9.1%, in June) of the year.
