From time to time I have to respond to an inquiry about “who we are”.\u00a0 \u00a0Usually, it is some smarmy and unctuous malcontent pretending to give a rats ass about what we do here.\u00a0 I generally just ignore them.<\/p>\n
On rare occasion I feel compelled to respond if it is coming from someone that has commented and posted with us over the years.<\/p>\n
We are not a community that represents a monolith of opinion on any issue.\u00a0 Many of the things posted here tend to be right of center politically.\u00a0 The chuckle that I get when I am accused of hosting some ultra right wing propaganda blog is heartfelt.<\/p>\n
As many know,\u00a0 I am Atheist.\u00a0 I don’t see it as a huge deal,\u00a0 I just believe in one less God than most do.\u00a0 The thing that bothers me about not believing in Heaven or Hell is that Jane Fonda will not actually be rotting in the latter at some future point.\u00a0 Those of you who do “Believe” get to have that warm fuzzy feeling for me.<\/p>\n
I own an Electric Vehicle,\u00a0 we are on our second\u00a0 one now.\u00a0 The Former Soviet and I enjoy it.\u00a0 Biden did not make me buy it and I doubt we will ever purchase a new vehicle that is not electric in the future.<\/p>\n
I voted for Trump in the last election and against Hillary in the one previous to that.<\/p>\n
I do not support the Oath Keepers,\u00a0 I have a great disdain for anything related to that organization.\u00a0 \u00a0I do not support many things.<\/p>\n
I do not speak for anyone else individually who posts here or comments here.\u00a0 Nobody does.\u00a0 They are all grown ass people with their own opinions, likes and dislikes.<\/p>\n
I can however make a few statements about what we are not.<\/p>\n
We are not a para-military organization looking to organize local militia groups into any kind of resistance to anything.\u00a0 \u00a0We do not tolerate threats to the health and safety of anyone.<\/p>\n
I realize that in the current state of society it seems strange that we do not demand every one agree with us on every issue\u00a0 or else we will ban them.<\/p>\n
We are a cacophony of voices forming a chorus that screeches a crescendo in the key of “off”.\u00a0 \u00a0Most of us have served our country to protect the rights of those who shout at the top of their lungs the very things we have spent a lifetime in opposition to.\u00a0 I read things here on a daily basis that I do not agree with.\u00a0 \u00a0I am proud of the members of our community.<\/p>\n
I am proud to be one small voice\u00a0 in our gallant\u00a0 Gallimaufry.\u00a0 \u00a0I feel badly for those who lack the intestinal fortitude to defend the right of others to have a divergent opinion.<\/p>\n
As my friend Edmond Dantes prosed to the unctuous and smarmy, “For your evils there are but two remedies – time and silence”.<\/p>\n
