Police: El Paso delivery driver shoots, kills man who allegedly threatened him with pole<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA delivery driver allegedly was threatened with a wooden pole before he fatally shot a man during a home delivery Saturday in South El Paso, police said.<\/p>\n

The 40-year-old deliveryman from Northeast El Paso has not been criminally charged as homicide detectives with the Crimes Against Persons Unit continue their investigation into the fatal shooting, police officials said Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The man killed in the shooting was identified by police as 44-year-old Michael Kroll of Central El Paso. The name of the driver has not been released by police because he hasn’t been charged.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred at 1:06 p.m. Saturday at a residence in the 100 block of Brown Street by Myrtle Avenue in the Magoffin area east of Downtown.<\/p>\n

During the delivery, the driver was approached by Kroll, who started to argue before allegedly threatening the deliveryman with a wooden pole. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What Daniel means is Mr. Kroll brought a stick to a gun fight, with predicable results.<\/p>\n

\nA man was shot by police and now Tulare County detectives must figure out what led to the shooting.<\/p>\n

Just after noon, Tulare 911 dispatchers began getting calls of a man with a gun who was driving in the area of Tulare Avenue and I Street. Four officers arrived within five minutes, Sgt. Eddie Hinojosa said.<\/p>\n

The officers walked over to the man who was parked and seated in the driver’s seat. Police found the man near I Street and King Avenue.<\/p>\n

“The suspect exited the driver’s seat of the vehicle and was immediately conformational and uncooperative,” Hinojosa said. “Officers asked for his compliance, and he continued to be uncooperative. Officers noted that they believed they saw what appeared to be a gun in his pants and made a movement consistent with him reaching for a gun.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
