Coroner IDs men killed in Lodge Avenue incident; cops say bystander fired at shooter<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nEVANSVILLE ? One man shot and killed another man outside an Evansville convenience store Wednesday night, only then to be shot and killed himself by an armed bystander, city police say.<\/p>\n

Vanderburgh County Deputy Coroner David Anson identified the deceased men as Nicholas Fenwick, 28, and 33-year-old Brett Coulson. Police haven’t said which man was reportedly the initial shooter, and the bystander hasn’t been publicly identified.<\/p>\n

According to an Evansville Police Department news release, police responded to a report of shots fired at the Lodge Food Mart at 2100 Lodge Ave., at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Dispatchers fielded a 911 call from the bystander claiming to have shot one of the deceased men. He reportedly told detectives in a later interview that he was in the parking lot of the store when he saw the two men arguing. One of them pulled a handgun, fired it several times in the air, and then fatally shot the other man.<\/p>\n

The bystander told police he then told the shooter to drop his weapon, but then shot at him as he fled behind the store, the release states.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nThe New York Police Department (NYPD) said its detectives apprehended three men who fired on a party in Queens late Friday night.<\/p>\n

In a media briefing, NYPD Chief of Patrol Jeffrey Maddrey said that at approximately 11:35 p.m. ET members of the violent crime squad were at the area of 219th Street and 130th Avenue in Springfield Gardens, Queens.<\/p>\n

The detectives were observing a party in the area, including approximately 75 to 100 attendees.<\/p>\n

“And, they were observing this party because they believed that there was a potential to be violence involving some of the local street crews,” he explained.<\/p>\n

The plainclothes detectives were in an unmarked car when a group of unknown men entered the same intersection and pulled out at least three firearms.<\/p>\n

They shot the guns into the vicinity of the party and the detectives \u2013 realizing that danger was imminent \u2013 exited their vehicle.<\/p>\n

“Our detectives exchanged gunfire with the group of males and our detectives were able to apprehend three of the males,” Maddrey said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Shooting Ruled Self-Defense After Police Find Projectile Embedded in Suspects Gun<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nPolice were to corroborate a man\u2019s story about shooting in self-defense after finding something lodged into the suspect\u2019s gun.<\/p>\n

A man was walking down the street in Philadelphia, PA, around 6 PM this past Wednesday. Some type of verbal confrontation started between him and someone driving a vehicle. It seems the vehicle was following him as the police said he was circling the block while engaged in some sort of verbal contact.<\/p>\n

A 27-year-old man got out of the vehicle and brandished a weapon. That\u2019s when the shooter, who had a valid concealed carry permit, drew his gun and fired at the suspect.<\/p>\n

The suspect was hit multiple times in the chest, where he later died at the hospital.<\/p>\n

The victim cooperated with the police and stated he shot him in self-defense. And the police found a bullet lodged in the suspect\u2019s gun, which backs up the victim\u2019s story.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a projectile presumably from the shooter\u2019s gun embedded into the gun of the decedent, and it\u2019s still there, which lends credence to the information that we received from the shooter that he was shooting in self-defense,\u201d said Pace via 6ABC.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
