Washington homeowner shoots and kills man breaking into home, authorities say<\/strong>
\nThe Washington state victim and his girlfriend had gotten into an argument before she left for their neighbor’s house, where he was later shot and killed<\/em><\/p>\n

\nA homeowner in Washington fatally shot a man who tried to break into his home Friday, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Deputies with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department received a call from someone saying a man was trying to break into his home and that he had shot him. When they arrived, they found a 36-year-old man dead on a back porch, authorities said.<\/p>\n

The homeowner was taken into police custody.<\/p>\n

Investigators later learned the deceased man and his girlfriend lived next door. The couple had an argument and the woman went to the neighbor’s home, authorities said.<\/p>\n

The woman had an active no-contact order against her boyfriend, police said. The man who was shot and killed attempted to break into the neighbor’s home before he was shot, officials said. He also made threats against the people inside, including his girlfriend.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The shooter was grudgingly released, and the case will be reviewed for possible charges against him. ‘Cause that’s how they roll.<\/p>\n

\nHARRISONBURG \u2014 Authorities said a man remains hospitalized in critical condition after being shot Monday night in Harrisonburg, according to a press release from the Harrisonburg Police Department.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old man was shot in the 1200 block of Greystone Street, where 911 callers had notified police of a suspicious person acting erratically. Police found the wounded man on nearby College Avenue.<\/p>\n

According to the press release, the shooting victim had been loudly banging on doors to several homes and was acting aggressively. “The male was described to be wearing only shoes and pants while attempting to strike people with a large umbrella,” the release said.<\/p>\n

A homeowner in the area \u2014 after being confronted by the individual \u2014 fired one round to prevent being assaulted, police said. The unidentified victim was taken to to Sentara RMH and then flown to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. On Tuesday afternoon, police said the man was in critical condition.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
