The payment goes up to $200 if the reported justice is still at the reported location half an hour later. ShutDownDC reached out to service workers, asking them to report any of the selected justices in their vicinity. Their tweet making this call remained up despite Twitter’s rules against calling for actions like this.<\/p>\n

“We’ll venmo you $50 for a confirmed sighting and $200 if they’re still there 30 mins after your message.”<\/p>\n

The group’s post was attached to a retweet of news that Justice Kavanaugh had been forced to leave a Washington, D.C., restaurant by a back door after pro-abortion protesters showed up while he was eating Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The tweet remained posted on Monday despite Twitter supposedly prohibiting users from encouraging or calling on others to harass an individual or group of people. “You may not engage in the targeted harassment of someone, or incite other people to do so. This includes wishing or hoping that someone experiences physical harm,” the social platform’s rules say.<\/p>\n

ShutDownDC claims to be “an organizing space where individuals and groups can come together to organize direct action in the fight for justice.”<\/p>\n

The group also tweeted a response to the Washington Post’s Ruth Marcus, who wrote a column saying “let them [the justices] eat their $200 steak dinners in peace, for decency’s sake! We will fix this by voting harder!”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
