Kidnapping suspect on rooftop killed in California during shooting with police<\/strong>
\nNo officers were injured in the shooting, according to police<\/em><\/p>\n

\nA man on a rooftop holding a gun was killed Saturday in California, ending a shooting involving himself and Long Beach Police.<\/p>\n

Officers were dispatched to the area shortly after 11:00 a.m. PT in response to a dispute involving a man with a gun, police said in a press release.<\/p>\n

Officers arrived at the scene and located a man on a roof of a building armed with what they believed was a gun.<\/p>\n

Police later identified the firearm as a handgun, according to the press release.<\/p>\n

“Officers made several attempts to de-escalate the situation, as the man refused to put down the firearm. Officers established a perimeter, activated SWAT, and advised nearby residents to evacuate and\/or shelter in place,” the press release said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nTwo men \u2014 including one who promised to \u201cblow the head off\u201d of cops \u2014 were killed in New York City on Saturday night after opening fire on NYPD officers, according to police officials.<\/p>\n

In the first of the stunning incidents, responding officers fatally shot a Queens man who had called 911 to threaten top New York officials a little after 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe threatened our governor, he threatened numerous elected officials and dignitaries and he threatened members of the Police Department,\u201d NYPD Chief of Patrol Jeff Maddrey said at a press conference by the scene of the crime, on 116th Ave. near Francis Lewis Blvd. in St. Albans.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe clearly stated that he was going to \u2018blow the head off\u2019 of the first police officers that he saw,\u201d Maddrey said of the caller, whose name was not immediately provided.<\/p>\n

The man also named Mayor Adams as a target, according to a police source.<\/p>\n

A sergeant from the 113th Precinct led \u201cmultiple units\u201d to the vicinity of the caller\u2019s address, getting out of their vehicles a few houses away.<\/p>\n

Outside, they saw the man, who began firing after a \u201cshort verbal exchange\u201d including threats and cursing at the cops, according to Maddrey.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
