{"id":127,"date":"2007-01-11T12:07:17","date_gmt":"2007-01-11T16:07:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/2007\/01\/11\/a-step-in-the-right-direction\/"},"modified":"2007-02-05T21:10:00","modified_gmt":"2007-02-06T01:10:00","slug":"a-step-in-the-right-direction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=127","title":{"rendered":"A step in the right direction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The following <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2007\/01\/11\/AR2007011100427.html\" target=\"_blank\">story from the WaPo<\/a> about US troops raiding the Iranian embassy in Iraq;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>U.S. troops raided an Iranian consulate in northern <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-srv\/world\/countries\/iraq.html?nav=el\"><font color=\"#0c4790\">Iraq<\/font><\/a> late Wednesday night and detained several people, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-srv\/world\/countries\/iran.html?nav=el\"><font color=\"#0c4790\">Iran&#8217;s<\/font><\/a> main news agency reported today, prompting protests from Tehran just hours after President Bush pledged to crack down on the Islamic Republic&#8217;s role in Iraqi violence.<\/p>\n<p>Iran released news of the raid through its Islamic Republic News Agency in a dispatch that was broadly critical of Bush&#8217;s plan to deploy about 21,500 more troops to Iraq.<\/p>\n<p>The IRNA report said that U.S. forces entered the Iranian consulate in Irbil, in Iraq&#8217;s Kurdish-dominated north, and seized computers, documents and other items. The report said five staff members were taken into custody.<\/p>\n<p>The Iranian foreign ministry appealed to the Iraqi government to obtain the release of its personnel.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What&#8217;s wrong Iran?
