2 people fatally shot during ‘targeted home invasion’: Police<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nTwo people are dead after they forced their way into a home in East Hartford and were shot, police said.<\/p>\n

According to officials, the two people entered the home and were shot in the living room. Police were called to the just after midnight.<\/p>\n

One person died at the scene while the other died at the hospital, police said.<\/p>\n

The incident was not random, police said, and all three people involved knew each other. Police described the incident as a “targeted home invasion”.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nMiami-Dade police fatally shot 21-year-old Richard Hollis after he allegedly wielded a knife during a \u201cviolent encounter\u201d with his mother in Kendall. Hollis, records show, had a history of strife with his own family and neighbors.<\/p>\n

Hollis had been awaiting trial after he was arrested in April 2021 on allegations he attacked an 88-year-old neighbor who complained about the man repeatedly walking his large dog without a leash. Police said he pushed the man to the ground, then kicked him, at the Kendall apartment complex where they both lived, according to an arrest report.<\/p>\n

Hollis was also charged with battery on a law-enforcement officer after police said he slammed the door on the face an officer who came to arrest him. Officers had to stun him with a Taser, an arrest report said. The charge was later reduced to a misdemeanor.<\/p>\n

His trial for felony battery on an elderly person was set for July 11.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Officials: Leander police officer shot and killed man during drug search at Austin hotel<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA Leander police officer shot and killed a 34-year-old man inside an Austin hotel room while carrying out a narcotics search warrant early Tuesday, according to a police news release. The Leander Police Department said the man’s name is not yet being released because relatives need to be notified.<\/p>\n

Leander Assistant Police Chief Billy Fletcher said it was the first deadly use of force in the department’s history.<\/p>\n

The shooting happened while officers were carrying out the warrant at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Extended Stay Hotel at 9909 North Lamar Blvd. in Austin, the release said. It did not explain the circumstances that led to the officer firing a weapon.<\/p>\n

Police recovered 2.3 kilos of methamphetamine including 1,000 Ecstasy tablets, 12 ounces of psilocybin, 250 Xanax, two guns and $6,795 in cash at the scene, Fletcher said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
