Man dead after shooting involving Cobb County police officer, GBI investigating<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into a shooting involving a Cobb County police officer.<\/p>\n

Police confirmed Saturday afternoon that one of their officers was involved in a shooting.<\/p>\n

Just after 11 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute call in the 4600 block Heritage Lakes Court in Mableton.<\/p>\n

According to police, a male at the residence was armed with a firearm, threatening those inside of the home.<\/p>\n

When officers arrived, they said the male began firing his weapon inside of the residence.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nA 19-year-old man was shot \u201cseveral times\u201d by Indian River County shierff’s deputies Saturday night after authorities said he ran with a gun from a car that had been stopped for questioning about an earlier incident of gunfire.<\/p>\n

The man was in stable condition Sunday at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce. Deputies did not disclose his identity, but Sheriff Eric Flowers said he is a convicted felon who was out on probation.<\/p>\n

Flowers addressed the media shortly after 11:30 p.m. Saturday at 30th Avenue and 45th Street in Gifford, just east of where the vehicle had been stopped at 31st Avenue.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur detectives were actively watching this vehicle that was known to be involved in that (earlier gunfire incident) and also known to be involved in some burglaries that were occurring in our community,\u201d he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
