Cooke Co. Sheriff says suspect shot dead during attempted arrest<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA suspect is dead after an officer involved shooting early Thursday, according to Cooke County Sheriff Ray Sappington.<\/p>\n

Larry Leon Wolfenbarger, 58, of Cooke County, was shot dead around 5 a.m. while Cooke and Montague County investigators, working with a Texas Department of Public Safety Special Response Team (SRT), were trying to serve him with arrest warrants at an address on CR 428 northeast of Muenster.<\/p>\n

“Wolfenbarger refused to exit the residence and the SRT personnel deployed tactical resources,” stated Sappington in a late afternoon press release. “Wolfenbarger exited the residence with a firearm and refused to follow instructions while advancing towards the SRT personnel.<\/p>\n

“A member of the SRT team discharged his duty weapon. Wolfenbarger was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Jody Henry. No law enforcement personnel were injured during this incident,” Sappington stated.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nPolice said the woman was trying to get away from the parking lot where a shootout was happening between an attempted robber and his victim.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nHOUSTON \u2014 A suspect accused of trying to rob a man in a gas station parking lot was run over by a woman trying to escape the bullets flying from a shootout, police said.<\/p>\n

It happened Thursday just after 3 p.m. in the 3900 block of Fondren.<\/p>\n

Houston police said the robbery victim met up with someone to exchange something and as he was talking to that person, the robber snuck up from behind and attempted to rob him at gunpoint.<\/p>\n

The robbery victim was able to get a gun from his vehicle and shot at the robbery suspect who returned fire, police said.<\/p>\n

As the shootout continued between the two, a woman, scared for her life, tried leaving the gas station parking lot and ran over the robbery suspect, police said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
