Teen\u2019s botched robbery gets his mom charged with poor supervision, Louisiana cops say<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA teen\u2019s botched attempt to rob someone at gunpoint ended with him in a hospital and his mom charged with \u201cimproper supervision of a minor,\u201d according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

The incident happened Saturday, May 14, in Hammond, Louisiana, about 45 miles east of Baton Rouge, the sheriff\u2019s office said in a news release.<\/p>\n

Deputies arrived to find a 17-year-old with a gunshot wound to the chest, the sheriff\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDetectives determined that during the robbery a struggle ensued between (the teen) and the victim, which led to gunshots being fired,\u201d officials said.<\/p>\n

The teen was taken to North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond for treatment. He was discharged May 23 into the custody of the sheriff\u2019s office, officials said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Police: Woman killed man who fired rifle into party crowd<\/strong><\/p>\n

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) \u2014 A woman in West Virginia fatally shot a man who began firing an AR-15-style rifle into a crowd of people that had gathered for a party, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Dennis Butler, 37, was killed Wednesday night after he pulled out the rifle and began shooting at dozens of people attending the birthday-graduation party outside an apartment complex in the city of Charleston, police said in a statement.<\/p>\n

The woman, who was attending the party, drew a pistol and fired, killing Butler, the statement said. No one at the party was injured.<\/p>\n

\u201cInstead of running from the threat, she engaged with the threat and saved several lives last night,\u201d Chief of Detectives Tony Hazelett told news outlets Thursday.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
