Gen. Hal Moore<\/a> and his wife, Julia. Hal Moore received the Distinguished Service Cross for heroism in the Vietnam War. Julia Moore was an advocate for military families.<\/li>\n<li>Fort Bragg, N.C. \u2014 recommended to be renamed Fort Liberty, after the value of liberty.<\/li>\n<li>Fort Gordon, Ga. \u2014 recommended to be renamed Fort Eisenhower, after President Dwight Eisenhower, who also served as general of the Army.<\/li>\n<li>Fort A.P. Hill, Va. \u2014 recommended to be renamed Fort Walker, after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=96120\">Dr. Mary Walker<\/a>, the Army\u2019s first female surgeon.<\/li>\n<li>Fort Hood, Tx. \u2014 recommended to be renamed Fort Cavazos, after Gen. Richard Cavazos, who received the Distinguished Service Cross for heroism in the Vietnam War<\/li>\n<li>Fort Lee, Va. \u2014 recommended to be renamed Fort Gregg-Adams, after Lt. Gen. Arthur Gregg and Lt. Col. Charity Adams. Gregg was a key figure in the integration of black soldiers into the Army. Adams was one of the highest ranking female soldiers in World War II.<\/li>\n<li>Fort Pickett, Va. \u2014 recommended to be renamed Fort Barfoot, after Tech. Sgt. Van T. Barfoot, a Medal of Honor recipient.<\/li>\n<li>Fort Polk, La. \u2014 recommended to be renamed Fort Johnson, after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=82632\">Sgt. William Henry Johnson<\/a>, a Medal of Honor recipient.<\/li>\n<li>Fort Rucker, Ala. \u2014 recommended to be renamed Fort Novosel after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=122638\">Chief Warrant Officer 4 Michael J. Novosel Sr<\/a>., a Medal of Honor recipient.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Several of these heroes, I&#8217;ve covered in past Valor Friday articles, or we&#8217;re otherwise discussed. I&#8217;ve put those links up above where relevant. Aside from &#8220;Fort Liberty&#8221; which seems like a real cop out on finding a worthy person to honor, the namesakes are all worthy of being honored.
