South Carolina Boy, 13, Uses Mother\u2019s Gun To Fend Off Two Criminals Who Were Breaking Into His Home While He Was Alone, Fatally Shoots Burglar, Scares Off Second Suspect: Police<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA 13-year-old South Carolina boy fatally shot one burglary suspect and scared off a second with his mother\u2019s gun, police said.<\/p>\n

The unidentified teenager told the Charleston County Sheriff\u2019s Office that he was alone on Tuesday afternoon in his family\u2019s home, north of North Charleston, when someone tried to break in, according to NBC affiliate WCBD.<\/p>\n

The boy grabbed his mother\u2019s gun, and then waited at the back door of the home, the station reported. Police say the boy fired repeatedly through the door, and someone outside shot back.<\/p>\n

The suspect was hit three times, and a getaway driver rushed him to a hospital in Charleston, where he died of his gunshot wounds, according to an affidavit. A gray Chevy Sonic used in the incident was found with bullet holes, and a gun was retrieved from the home\u2019s backyard, the affidavit said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Oakley Woman Fatally Shoots Man in Self-Defense: Police<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA woman shot and killed a man in Oakley early Friday in a case that police are treating as self-defense.<\/p>\n

Officers responded at 12:39 a.m. to a report of a 51-year-old man shot in the 200 block of West Cypress Road.<\/p>\n

The man was found in the driveway of a home and succumbed to his injuries at the scene, police said. His name has not been released.<\/p>\n

Investigators detained three people at the home and learned that a 74-year-old woman there has an elder abuse restraining order against the man because of a history of physical violence, and more alleged violence by the man led her to shoot him in self-defense, according to police.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
