Former Alabama corrections officer Vicky White dead, murder suspect she’s accused of helping in custody<\/strong>
\nWhite, 56, was captured Monday after more than a week on the run with accused murderer Casey White, 38, with whom she had a “special relationship” for years, according to officials.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nVicky White, the former Alabama corrections officer accused of helping inmate Casey White escape and leading police on a manhunt for days, has died, according to the Vanderburgh County Coroner\u2019s Office in Indiana.<\/p>\n

Vicky White and Casey White were captured after a car chase in Evansville, Indiana on Monday afternoon, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding said.<\/p>\n

After a car wreck that ended the chase, Vicky White turned the gun on herself, Wedding said.<\/p>\n

Both Vicky and Casey White were taken to the hospital, but Wedding said Vicky White was in “in pretty serious shape” at the time.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nAn Atlanta police officer shot a man who had fired a gun at a group of children waiting to board a school bus Monday morning, police said. <\/p>\n

Officers were responding to a domestic situation in the area around 7:20 a.m. regarding a suspect who was armed with both a knife and a handgun, Deputy Chief Charles Hampton, Jr. told reporters. <\/p>\n

While driving around looking for the subject, the officers found him pointing a gun toward a group of children at a bus stop, Hampton said. <\/p>\n

Police said the suspect fired a gun at the children before the officers could react. One of the officers got out of the patrol car and shot the man. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and is in stable condition, Hampton said. <\/p>\n

Police recovered two firearms and a knife from the subject while taking him into custody.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
