The U.S. Navy recently cut several books, including a number of racially charged titles, from its official reading list after lawmakers criticized their inclusion last year as \u201cwoke,\u201d \u201canti-American\u201d and \u201cleftist propaganda.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Friday, the Navy announced an \u201cupdate\u201d to the Chief of Naval Operations\u2019 (CNO\u2019s) Professional Reading Program (PRP) \u2014 the service\u2019s official reading list.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Absent from the new reading list were several titles added in the 2021 version of the list, including Ibram X. Kendi\u2019s \u201cHow to Be an Antiracist,\u201d Michelle Alexander\u2019s \u201cThe New Jim Crow\u201d and Jason Pierceson\u2019s \u201cSexual Minorities and Politics.\u201d Those books appeared in a version of the reading list that had been on the Navy\u2019s website as recently as April. <\/p>\n

Gilday\u2019s statement accompanying the release of the latest version of the reading list made no mention of why the list was reduced from 37 books to 12, or why certain titles were removed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
