Shooting of pedestrian who ‘accosted’ motorist ruled self-defense based on preliminary evidence<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA pedestrian “aggressively approaching” drivers was shot in self defense after “accosting” a motorist, the Tallahassee Police Department has determined.<\/p>\n

The investigation surrounding a motorist who shot and severely injured a pedestrian Friday afternoon concluded as “the case was found to be in accordance with Florida\u2019s Stand Your Ground Law,” according to TPD. <\/p>\n

The conclusion was reached by the police department after a consultation with the state attorney’s office around preliminary findings, according to TPD spokesperson Alicia Turner. <\/p>\n

The male driver was at the intersection of Gaines Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard around 4 p.m., when a pedestrian “accosted” him, leading to the gunfire, Turner said. <\/p>\n

The pedestrian was “aggressively approaching” motorists before he was eventually shot, Turner said. The driver cooperated with detectives on scene and was not take into custody. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Canton homeowner shoots, kills armed intruder<\/strong><\/p>\n

CANTON, Texas (KLTV) – A Saturday morning shooting left one person dead after a Canton homeowner claims a man unlawfully forced entry into his home.<\/p>\n

At 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Canton police officers were dispatched to a residence following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they reported finding Erik J. Hicks, 51, of Grand Saline, in the residence having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Hicks died of his wounds shortly after being transported to a local hospital.<\/p>\n

A joint investigation by the Canton Police Department and the Texas Rangers revealed that Hicks had allegedly unlawfully forced entry into the residence and confronted the homeowner while armed with a handgun. The homeowner retrieved his own handgun and shot Hicks multiple times.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
