That’s when Mardesich, who was the driver, returned to the vehicle and explained she had run out of gas.

Law enforcement informed her that the vehicle was to be inventoried and towed, but Mardesich advised that officers could not go inside the car, according to Memphis police.

As officers approached the vehicle, they smelled raw marijuana and Mardesich was detained.

When the vehicle was searched, 229 pounds of marijuana were in multiple boxes and a duffel bag, police said. A large sum of money was also found inside the vehicle.

Because the vehicle was in Memphis at the time of the discovery, Mardesich was transported to Jail East in Shelby County, Tennessee.

Source; Fox News

Screams of home intrusion lead deputies to narcotics arrest in Marco Island

A distraught woman running through Marco Island, screaming that someone had broken into her house and was in her pool, led deputies to the discovery of narcotics.

When officers arrived at the 800 block of Robin Court, they checked the home for signs of forced entry without luck.

As deputies checked the home for possible intruders, they found several suspected narcotics, as well as a shotgun.

The resident, 39-year-old Marisol Perez, appeared to be under the influence of narcotics and displayed signs of excited delirium, according to a Marco Island Police Department press release.

Perez was then taken to the hospital.

After Marco Island police received search warrants for Perez’ home. The court said to CBS News in a statement Friday there were no other injuries, and there did not appear to be a public safety concern.

Police identified the man as 50-year-old Wynn Bruce, of Boulder, Colorado, and said he died of his injuries after being airlifted to a hospital following the incident. At approximately 6:30 p.m., he went on to the plaza in front of the court building and set himself on fire, the court said. The court did not offer any specifics on the person or what their motivation may have been.

Supreme Court Police, U.S. Capitol Police and the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the incident, the court said, and a medical helicopter airlifted the person to a local hospital.

“The area remains closed for further investigation, but this is not a public safety issue,” the court said.

The incident came on a chaotic day in Washington D.C., where earlier Friday, multiple people were shot on a busy street.
