Louisville Metro Police officer shoots man near Churchill Downs<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA man is in \u201cstable\u201d condition, according to Louisville Metro Police, after an officer with the department shot him Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n

LMPD spokeswoman Beth Ruoff said police initially responded to reports of an adult man hitting a female in the face and stealing her \u201cproperty\u201d in the 1400 block of Paul Avenue, which is in the Taylor Berry neighborhood near Churchill Downs.<\/p>\n

When an officer \u201cobserved the man matching the description\u201d provided by MetroSafe running on Clara Avenue, that officer pursued, Ruoff said.<\/p>\n

Ruoff said the man \u201crolled onto the ground\u201d and pointed a handgun \u201cdirectly at the officer,\u201d and the officer responded by shooting the man.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nA man was shot by Boston police after police say he fired at the officers first. The shooter is recovering at a hospital and the Suffolk District Attorney says he will face criminal charges. This all unfolded in Jamaica Plain near Franklin Park and Shattuck Hospital.<\/p>\n

Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden says the officers tried to pull a car over, but it took off and then crashed. When police officers approached the first shots were fired.<\/p>\n

You can hear the initial gunfire on police radio transmissions. \u201cWe have shots fired,\u201d said the officer on the radio. Boston police say the officers were trying to pull a vehicle over just before 1 a.m. near Shattuck Hospital and Franklin Park in Jamaica Plain.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have a routine traffic stop, not entirely routine because there is an accident involved here, leads to to a foot chase and discharge of a firearm at the officers that are engaged in that chase and that is always concerning,\u201d said Hayden.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
