Property owner shoots, kills burglary suspect at East End home, HPD says<\/strong>
\nHouston police said the shooting happened in the 7300 block of Canal Street, in the Greater East End.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nHOUSTON \u2014 Houston police said a property owner shot and killed a man Tuesday night on the east side.<\/p>\n

According to initial information, The Houston Police Department said the property owner shot a burglary suspect in the 7300 block of Canal Street, which is in Houston’s Greater East End.
\nHPD tweeted about the shooting at about 9 p.m.<\/p>\n

In a follow-up tweet, HPD announced that the man was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
\nWhat happened<\/p>\n

According to HPD, the owner was checking his property on Canal Street because it had been burglarized in the days prior. They said at least two of the three apartments at the location had been broken into.<\/p>\n

When the property owner looked inside one of the buildings, he said he saw the burglary suspect. According to police, while the property owner was calling 911, the suspect pulled out a weapon so the property owner shot him in the abdomen.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nA planned SWAT operation Tuesday at a mobile home park in Spanaway ended with two Pierce County deputies shot and seriously injured, and the 40-year-old man they were there to arrest killed.<\/p>\n

The deputies were transported to St. Joseph\u2019s Medical Center, where Pierce County Sheriff\u2019s Department spokesperson Sgt. Darren Moss said one deputy was undergoing surgery and was expected to survive. The other deputy was \u201cgravely injured\u201d and in critical condition.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very sad. It\u2019s very scary for all of us,\u201d Moss said. \u201cWe\u2019re pulling for them and hoping they\u2019ll be okay.\u201d<\/p>\n

The man killed during the arrest has not been identified. Tacoma police spokesperson Wendy Haddow said the South Sound Gang Task Force had requested the assistance of the SWAT team to serve an arrest warrant on the man for second-degree assault. The task force is comprised of multiple police agencies, the Department of Corrections and the FBI.<\/p>\n

The man had previous felony convictions, Haddow said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Homeowner shoots intruder in Westminster<\/strong><\/p>\n

Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Monday morning in the town of Westminster.<\/p>\n

A man was shot inside a mobile home at Shady Pines Park, off of Back Westminster Road, at around 11:00 a.m.<\/p>\n

Police say the owner of the home encountered two intruders, a man, and a woman, and shot at them.<\/p>\n

The male intruder was hit.<\/p>\n

The man was driven to the urgent care center in Bellows Falls and subsequently transferred by helicopter to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
