DA: Brunswick deputies ‘legally justified in using deadly force’ in October fatal shooting<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nTwo deputies who fatally shot a 57-year-old man in Leland in October won’t be criminally charged, District Attorney Jon David said following an investigation into the incident.<\/p>\n

According to a news release from the District Attorney’s Office, an investigation in consultation with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, including a review of evidence, body camera footage, witness and officer statements, was conducted and David determined the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Offices deputies were “legally justified in using deadly force.”<\/p>\n

On Oct. 10, 2021, deputies were sent to 8627 Wanets Landing Road in Leland after Linda Beck called 911 and said her husband, Michael Beck, had discharged a firearm in her direction twice.<\/p>\n

Linda Beck also told dispatchers her husband would be “very volatile when the deputies show up, I can tell you that\u2026I\u2019m scared that he will try to kill all of them and me too,” according to the release.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Suspect shot, killed in Marion County police pursuit<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nTennessee Bureau of Investigation agents are probing the circumstances that led to a deadly officer-involved shooting overnight Monday in Marion County.<\/p>\n

Preliminary reports indicate a South Pittsburg police officer attempted to stop a vehicle. When the driver refused to stop, deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department pursued, TBI spokesperson Susan Niland said in a press release issued Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The pursuit continued until the vehicle became disabled on some railroad tracks. Niland said reports indicate as officers approached the vehicle, they heard a shot fired, saw the driver with a gun and one deputy fired his weapon.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Man killed by Lee\u2019s Summit resident after he allegedly fired gunshots into home: police<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA Lee\u2019s Summit resident fatally shot a 22-year-old man who allegedly fired several gunshots through the front door of a home early Tuesday morning while searching for an ex-girlfriend, according to police.<\/p>\n

Police have identified the man killed as Zavion Miles, of Raytown, Sgt. Chris Depue, a Lee\u2019s Summit Police Department spokesman, said in a statement Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Officers were first dispatched around 1 a.m. Tuesday to the 100 block of N.E. Chinquapin Court on a reported disturbance. Miles was shot dead inside a house when police arrived.<\/p>\n

Miles was allegedly searching for a female inside that residence with whom he had a previous relationship.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
