A Virginia sheriff’s office is thanking a goat for assisting deputies during a foot pursuit with a fleeing suspect this month.<\/p>\n

The goat, named Gracie, helped two deputies flush out a suspect they were chasing on Feb. 13, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

PERRY, Ga. \u2014 The GBI is investigating after Perry police officers fatally shot a man during a crisis situation Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

According to a news release from the Perry Police Department, officers got the call about a suicidal person with a gun at a home in the 100-block of Bedford Court just before 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

When they made it to the scene and secured the area, police began to speak with the man, 32-year-old Matthew Deese, to convince him to lay down his gun.<\/p>\n

When Deese refused, Perry Police called the Houston County Sheriff’s Office Response Team to help. The sheriff’s office’s negotiator arrived and tried to talk to Deese.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

UPDATE: Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones has identified the victim of the shooting as 63 year-old disabled veteran Steven Lewis Finfrock, from Titusville, Florida. Jones says he\u2019s made numerous calls to the family, but has yet to make contact with them. Jones is looking for the help of the public in finding the family of Finfrock.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to a press release from the GBI, a Georgia Department of Transportation CHAMPS operator checked on a motorist parked in the emergency lane of Interstate 75 northbound between exits 171 and 172 in Macon. The male driver would not respond to the operator, so the operator called law enforcement for assistance.<\/p>\n

The Georgia State Patrol and Bibb County Sheriff\u2019s Office responded to the location. The officers approached the car and saw that the driver had a gun. During the incident, the driver shot his gun multiple times inside the car and the officers took cover. The driver then got out of the car and pointed his gun at the officers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
