Several news outlets are reporting on a woman that was under the impression she was a trainee for the DEA until she presented her badge to authorities and it proved to be fake.<\/p>\n

Alleged DEA imposter in Portland took woman on \u2018ride-alongs,\u2019 had her flash fake badge to find informants among homeless people, complaint says<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Portland police Sgt. Matt Jacobsen spotted a tactical vest bearing a DEA patch in the open trunk of a silver Dodge Charger stopped in downtown Portland. He noticed the car had red-and-blue lights on the front interior and around the rear license plate.<\/p>\n

The sergeant approached the man and woman standing beside the car and asked if they were narcotics agents.<\/p>\n

The man, later identified as 41-year-old Robert Edward Golden, insisted they were \u201cfeds\u201d and directed the woman with him to show the officer her credentials, according to the sergeant.<\/p>\n

The woman pulled out a badge and Drug Enforcement Administration credentials, according to a criminal complaint.<\/p>\n

Now Golden is facing federal prosecution, accused of impersonating a federal agent.<\/p>\n

The woman with Golden was not charged as she said Golden had issued her a DEA badge, had taken her on nightly \u201cride alongs\u201d to do surveillance, helped her practice shooting and promised she\u2019d soon be training with other agents, even naming them as \u201cAgent Anderson,\u201d \u201cAgent Luis,\u201d and \u201cAgent Garcia,\u201d the complaint says. She told an investigator she\u2019d been in training to be a DEA agent for a year.<\/p>\n

After Golden was arrested, he told investigators he had taken the woman to speak with homeless people to try to develop confidential informants in case \u201csomething happened\u201d to him, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

She\u2019d flash her DEA credentials when they would approach the homeless people, he said, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She was not charged because she was the one being duped.\u00a0 She must have been having dreams of runnin’ and gunnin’ with the DEA and accepted all the recruitment of informants through the homeless population as being legit.<\/p>\n

She’s not going to jail but there goes a year of tuition and fees down the drain.<\/p>\n
