Bullets Fly Inside Philly Corner Store; Clerk, Gunman Hurt in Shootout<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA worker and an armed robber were hurt in a shootout inside a Philadelphia corner store early Tuesday morning where the store manager’s dog also intervened.<\/p>\n

The shootout took place shortly before 4 a.m. inside the corner smoke shop at Torresdale and Cheltenham avenues in the Wissinoming neighborhood, Philadelphia police said.<\/p>\n

Police officers and medics arrived to find a 32-year-old woman bleeding from at least four gunshot wounds to her upper thigh and hip, police said. She was rushed to the hospital where she was listed in critical condition. She was later released from the hospital.<\/p>\n

In-store surveillance cameras captured the entire shootout.<\/p>\n

The woman was working behind the counter at the store, sitting on a chair and speaking to the manager when two armed men burst in and announced a robbery, police said and video shows. The manager said the men said “don’t move.”<\/p>\n

However, the manager’s dog, named Bullet, jumped on the gunman, temporarily distracting him. The store employee then pulled out a gun and a shootout began between her and at least one of the would-be thieves.<\/p>\n

About 45 minutes after the shootout, a man matching the description of one of the gunmen showed up at the hospital. He was identified as one of the armed robbers, police said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Wanted man shot by police after throwing bricks, threatening them with blow torch<\/strong><\/p>\n

A wanted man has been taken to the hospital for treatment after he was shot by police after throwing cement bricks at officers and threatening them with a blow torch, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office.<\/p>\n

The incident happened at around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the 1400 block of Union Grove Road in East Earl Township.<\/p>\n

Officials say members of the United States Marshals’ Eastern District Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force were serving multiple warrants on 38-year-old Zachary Gilbaugh, who was wanted for charges including burglary, stalking, terroristic threats, and simple assault.<\/p>\n

When members of that task force attempted to take Gilbaugh into custody he began to throw cement bricks at officers, so officers used stun guns in an attempt to subdue him, according to the District Attorney’s Office.<\/p>\n

The 38-year-old subject then reportedly threatened officers with a blow torch, got into a vehicle, and began driving in the direction of one of the officers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
