Durham police fatally shoot man assaulting Circle K clerk, chief says<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nOfficers shot and killed a person who was attacking a Circle K store clerk early Wednesday morning, according to Durham police.<\/p>\n

Around 3 a.m., officers responded to a reported suicide in progress at the convenience store on N.C. 54 in southern Durham, Police Chief Patrice Andrews said at a news conference.<\/p>\n

Officers were told a man was cutting himself inside the store, according to a Durham Police Department news release.<\/p>\n

The front door was locked. Officers forced their way inside and \u201cobserved an assailant violently assaulting the store clerk with a sharp object,\u201d Andrews said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Hillsborough police officer fatally shot man advancing with knife, Attorney General says<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA Hillsborough police officer fatally shot a 19-year-old man who was advancing toward him with a knife, according to the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General.<\/p>\n

The man killed in the Sunday evening incident has been identified as township resident, Joshua Mathis.<\/p>\n

The officer who fired his weapon has been identified as Christopher Michaels.<\/p>\n

The shooting remains under investigation.<\/p>\n

Hillsborough police responded about 6:12 p.m. Sunday to a 911 call about a man with a gun at an apartment on Corporal Langon Way, in a complex off Amwell Road about a half mile west of the high school, according to the Attorney General’s Office.<\/p>\n

Arriving officers encountered Mathis inside the apartment, holding a large knife, according to the Attorney General’s Office.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
