Armed man fatally shot by Buffalo Grove police<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nAn armed man was fatally shot early Thursday, reportedly by Buffalo Grove police officers who opened fire when the man refused to drop his weapons, officials said.<\/p>\n

Authorities were called to the parking lot of a vacant building near Radcliffe and Arlington Heights Roads near Mill Creek Park around 12:30 a.m., Deputy Chief Mike Szos told WGN-Ch. 9.<\/p>\n

Szos, who gave a media briefing after the shooting, said the man had two handguns, one in each hand, and was firing them into the air when officers arrived. Two police officers returned gunfire, striking the man who had only been identified as being in his 20s.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Man wounded by law enforcement after firing at them while fleeing West Broad Street crash<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nThe Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is examining what happened after a man who fled a traffic crash scene Wednesday night on West Broad Street in Prairie Township fired on pursuing law enforcement and was wounded when they returned fire.<\/p>\n

According to a press release from Columbus police, officers saw two disabled vehicles from a traffic crash on West Broad Street, just west of the Interstate 270 interchange, shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday. Franklin County Sheriff’s office deputies were also on scene.<\/p>\n

The location of the crash was in Prairie Township, which falls under the sheriff’s office jurisdiction.<\/p>\n

Sgt. James Fuqua told reporters at the scene Wednesday night there was a conversation with one of the occupants of one of the vehicles, later identified as 30-year-old Brandon R. Johnson. Fuqua did not know Wednesday night what the conversation was about.<\/p>\n

According to police, Johnson suddenly fled on foot and at least one deputy and one Columbus officer gave chase.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
