\nAn individual was shot and killed Friday outside the entrance to a Marine Corps Recruit Depot in California.<\/p>\n

Base officials told police that the person was shot and killed by a guard outside the gate of the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego just off the Pacific Coast Highway.<\/p>\n

“Base personnel issued verbal commands to stop the vehicle at which point the individual exited their vehicle and approached with a knife and hostile intent,” First Lieutenant Joshua Collins of the Marine Corps Recruit Depot said in a statement to Fox News Digital.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Homeowner holds alleged burglar at gunpoint<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nDaniel Earl, 38, of Quincy could have gotten shot Tuesday by homeowner Jim Johnson, authorities said, instead Earl is in jail, where he faces a prison sentence on a charge of home invasion as a habitual offender.<\/p>\n

Johnson arrived at his Sebring Road home and observed the front door ajar. He looked into the living room and saw Earl facing away from him with a hatchet in his hand, authorities said. Johnson went back to his truck, got a handgun, and held Earl at gunpoint.<\/p>\n

A dispatcher at 911 got Johnson to move Earl to his front porch, where the man sat down. They urged Johnson to put down the gun until Branch County sheriff’s deputies arrived to prevent an accidental shooting. Johnson told them Earl was \u201cnot aggressive.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
