{"id":1192,"date":"2008-02-12T11:45:45","date_gmt":"2008-02-12T15:45:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/2008\/02\/12\/the-2008-election-bummer\/"},"modified":"2008-02-12T11:45:45","modified_gmt":"2008-02-12T15:45:45","slug":"the-2008-election-bummer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=1192","title":{"rendered":"The 2008 Election Bummer"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<div>The GOP candidates are mighty thin in substance this time around.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t like choosing among the least of the selection of evils.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Big issues with me:\u00c2\u00a0 National security, border security, illegals,\u00c2\u00a0killing Islamofascists, pork-barrel spending and the economy.<\/p>\n<p>Sizing up the current (and former) candidates:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fred Thompson:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I wanted to vote for him, but never got the chance.\u00c2\u00a0 Fred was late to the game and never got the real momentum he needed to stay in the race.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0He came the closest in terms of what I look for in a leader and potential President of the United States. He is strong on national and border security, illegal immigration, the war on Islamofascism, and the 2nd Amendment. Whomever gets the GOP nod for nomination, would be very smart to choose him as a presidential running mate.<\/p>\n<p>Now that Fred is out, that leaves us with the remaining consolation prizes:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mitt Romney:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>His politics are like a damned revolving door.\u00c2\u00a0 He talks the Conservative talk on the issues but doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t walk the walk.<br \/>\nAside from that, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll admit I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m very leery of Mormons and their religion.<br \/>\nI\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m agnostic, so I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t care for religion in general. I care even less for one that by it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s very nature, is exclusive and cultish.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph Smith was a neurotic con man who concocted the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Gold Bible,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d engraved on metal plates in an \u00e2\u20ac\u0153<em>Egyptian dialect\u00e2\u20ac\u009d only he could <\/em>read, with the aid of <em>magic goggles. <\/em>He dictated this manuscript to several secretaries from <em>behind a curtain<\/em>. This is funny, considering he was illiterate.<\/p>\n<p>Brigham Young, the other prominent Mormon figure, was a cold-blooded murderer. (Mountain Meadows Massacre in 1857)<\/p>\n<p>It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s hard to respect followers of a religion founded by a couple of wackjobs.<br \/>\nSecondly, the history of the Mormons in Utah reads like a chapter out of the Book of <em>Mafia. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Human Events on Romney:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6examining his record and listening to his campaign rhetoric indicate to us that he is more a problem-solver than a gut conservative. His \u00e2\u20ac\u0153RomneyCare\u00e2\u20ac\u009d legislation made Massachusetts the first state in the nation to impose an \u00e2\u20ac\u0153individual mandate,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d which requires everyone in the state to have health coverage or face significant penalties. And we have concerns about the big-government approach he took as governor, raising state \u00e2\u20ac\u0153fees,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d according to the Cato Institute, by $500 million and proposing two corporate tax increases totaling close to $400 million a year.<\/p>\n<p>Link: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.humanevents.com\/article.php?id=24398&amp;keywords=HUMAN+EVENTS+Endorses+Fred+Thompson\">http:\/\/www.humanevents.com\/article.php?id=24398&amp;keywords=HUMAN+EVENTS+Endorses+Fred+Thompson<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>John McCain:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Jeezus, where do I start?\u00c2\u00a0 He\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the quintessential R.I.N.O.\u00c2\u00a0 I can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t tell you how many times I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve yelled at the T.V. screen during his speeches:\u00c2\u00a0 \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Just end the charade and cross the fucking aisle, John\u00e2\u20ac\u009d!\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\nHe claims to have \u00e2\u20ac\u0153gotten the message\u00e2\u20ac\u009d with regard to his shitty border security\/immigration stance, but that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s belied by his disgraceful coersion with Juan Hernandez, a leading illegal immigration pimp, who\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s as fazed by U.S. Code Title 8, as McCain seems to be.<\/p>\n<p>Human Events on McCain:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6..he does not honor many conservative principles. His co-authorship of the Bush-McCain-Kennedy \u00e2\u20ac\u0153comprehensive immigration reform\u00e2\u20ac\u009d legislation last summer ran directly against our principles of American sovereignty and national security. His position has not been ameliorated by his more recent explanations of border-security measures he might support. His opposition to the Bush tax cuts, his support for economy-strangling measures to control \u00e2\u20ac\u0153global warming\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and his anti-torture legislation (which didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t make torture illegal, it already was: McCain\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s law only made a clear law vague to the point of unenforceability) all cut against the conservative grain. Now, after sniffing the political winds, he poses as tough on illegal aliens and a tax-whacker.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.alipac.us\/modules.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=2845\">http:\/\/www.alipac.us\/modules.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=2845<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Mike Huckabee raised more taxes in 10 years in office than Bill Clinton did in his 12 years.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u201d writes Ernie Dumas, Arkansas Leader.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.votemike.net\/\">http:\/\/www.votemike.net\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>In 1999 Mike Huckabee, despite numerous warnings from victims of a serial rapist, pushed for the release of Wayne Dumond. At the time, Huckabee said that there was no real evidence the rapist would strike again and represented no threat to the public. Because of Huckabee\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s push for the release, Wayne Dumond was released 25 years early.<br \/>\nSoon after Dumond\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s release in 1999, he moved to Smithville, Missouri, where he went on to rape and kill Carol Sue Shields, a 39 year old woman. Dumond went on to kill Sara Andrasek, 23 year old from Platte County, Missouri, a day before his arrest in 2001.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.votemike.net\/category\/topic\/ethics\">http:\/\/www.votemike.net\/category\/topic\/ethics<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Human Events on Huckabee:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6But his support for the economically disastrous \u00e2\u20ac\u0153cap-and-trade\u00e2\u20ac\u009d fix for global warming is as bad as Sen. McCain\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s position on the issue. The so-called \u00e2\u20ac\u0153fair tax\u00e2\u20ac\u009d he supports is unworkable. His tax-and-spend policies do not comport with conservative principles, but they do align all too well with Huckabee\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s populist rhetoric on the injustice of corporate CEO salaries. His stance on granting special benefits to the children of illegal aliens is also very troubling. On the war, Gov. Huckabee\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s understanding of the issues does not impress us. For example, he wants to close the terrorist detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and move the detainees there into U.S. prisons, which \u00e2\u20ac\u201d as Sen. Thompson schooled him on in a recent debate \u00e2\u20ac\u201d would result in the grant of constitutional rights to terrorist detainees even though they are enemy combatants.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gov. I want a President who won\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t be afraid to tell America (and the world) what they need to hear, not necessarily what they want to hear.<\/p>\n<p>I want a leader who will make it their mission to destroy any and all Islamofascist nation-states and their supporters.<\/p>\n<p>I want them to make it illegal for our corporations to do business with and prop up regimes of America\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s enemies, like China.<\/p>\n<p>Domestic policies: Give incentives to American businesses to keep factories and jobs here so that they won\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t feel compelled to outsource.<\/p>\n<p>Enforce policies on those who use welfare as a steady source of income, that will make them decide to use birth control, stay in school, become part of the work force, and wean themselves off the teat of public dole.<\/p>\n<p>Hold parents responsible for the criminal activities of their little gangsta children, to include fines and jail.<\/p>\n<p>Clean out death row by expediting the process. Use DNA to determine guilt or innocence. Expedite the release of the not guilty and the execution of the guilty. The prisons are bursting with violent offenders who committed brutal acts against society, and once they get to prison many of them pick up where they left off on the outside. Line \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcem up against a wall and mow them down. They\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re animals. They were that way before they got there, and rehabilitation is out of the question. Our tax money is wasted keeping them housed, clothed, and fed for the rest of their miserable lives. Bullets are cheap.<\/p>\n<p>I want a President who has all the attributes lacking in the motely crew of 2008 candidates.<\/p>\n<p>Which means I hope the voting machine has a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153write-in\u00e2\u20ac\u009d candidate space.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0If it does, I will enter Fred Thompson\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s\u00c2\u00a0name.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It will be a futile gesture, but at least I can say I voted my conscience.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The GOP candidates are mighty thin in substance this time around.
