Dog helps lead game warden to suspect at Kansas lake<\/strong>
\nRuby was rewarded for her work with a swim in the lake<\/em><\/p>\n

Ruby the K-9 officer for Kansas game wardens may be pushing 10 years of old, but her sniffer works just fine.<\/p>\n

That was evident earlier this month when Ruby played a key role in tracking down a man wanted by police in the south-central Kansas town of Wellington.<\/p>\n

A Monday Facebook posting by Kansas Wildlife & Parks-Game Wardens says Ruby and her handler, Chris Stout, joined in the search for the suspect on Oct. 8 at Wellington City Lake.<\/p>\n

Ruby found the suspect \u201cface down in mud under dense brush.\u201d For her hard work, Ruby was rewarded with a swim in the lake.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Man shot dead in Casselton broke into woman\u2019s home <\/strong>

The man killed in an early morning shooting in Casselton on Monday had broken into a woman\u2019s apartment and violated a restraining order, according to Cass County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Sheriff Jesse Jahner says 54-year-old Edwin Kester Jr. shot 58-year-old Randell Burton after Burton forced himself into an apartment on 37th Street Southeast at around 2 a.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. Burton forced his way into the residence through two locked doors,\u201d Jahner said during a news conference Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The home is connected to the Club 94 Bar & Grill.<\/p>\n

A woman, whose name will not be disclosed, had told friends she was afraid Burton would come to her home. Kester Jr. says he volunteered to stay with her so she could get some rest.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
