Carjacking suspects in Stafford stymied by manual transmission<\/strong><\/p>\n

Three men are jailed without bond after a carjacking attempt and police pursuit Tuesday in Stafford County.<\/p>\n

At 4:51 p.m., deputies responded to the Anytime Fitness at 25 Tech Parkway in North Stafford after three men had attacked a gym patron in an attempt to steal his car.<\/p>\n

Once on scene, deputies learned the suspects had approached the victim wielding a wooden stick and struck him several times in an attempt to steal his car.<\/p>\n

The victim, trained in mixed martial arts, fought back against the attackers, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.<\/p>\n

One of the suspects was able to obtain the victim\u2019s car key and attempted to steal the car. But the suspect was stymied by the manual transmission and “had no clue how to drive the car,” the release said.<\/p>\n

Additional gym patrons rushed out and assisted in thwarting the robbery attempt. All three suspects were able to get back to their vehicle and flee the scene.<\/p>\n

Deputies learned the suspects were driving a white Acura sedan with Mississippi license plates. Within minutes Sgt. R.K. Pinkard located the suspect vehicle on Garrisonville Road near I-95 and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sheriff: Man, 28, Shot And Killed After Breaking Into
\nValley Springs Home He Claimed Was His<\/strong><\/p>\n

Detectives are investigating after an intruder was shot and killed after he broke into a Valley Springs home and started attacking people inside.<\/p>\n

The Calaveras County Sheriff\u2019s Office say Sunday\u2019s deadly incident appears to stem from the suspect, 28-year-old Lennin Elizalde, wrongfully believing that he owned the home.<\/p>\n

Deputies say the rightful homeowners had brought the 7000 block of Gabor Street property from a real estate company recently. However, during the moving process, the owners came home one day and found that someone had broken in through a side door \u2013 and Elizalde was inside.<\/p>\n

Elizalde was the son of the previous owner of the home. He was ordered to leave after the new owners found him inside, but he refused until 911 was called.<\/p>\n

The new owners say Elizalde threatened to return. Deputies later found and arrested Elizalde, who didn\u2019t deny that he went into the home but claimed someone else had broken the door.<\/p>\n

A deputy says Elizalde also told him that he believed he still owned the home and he intended to come back. This statement prompted the deputy to ask for a bail enhancement that would keep him in custody, but the sheriff\u2019s office says the judge denied that enhancement.<\/p>\n

Elizalde was soon released from custody on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n

Early Sunday morning, deputies say Elizalde returned to the home. Witnesses say Elizalde kicked in the door and started attacking someone who was sleeping in the living room. During the chaos, deputies say one of the rightful occupants then shot Elizalde in self-defense.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nA Madera, California, woman who received roughly $5 million from a settlement after police fatally shot her son was arrested after purchasing guns allegedly for another son and gang members.<\/p>\n

Christina Lopez, 42, received $4.9 million last April following the 2017 death of her son, 16-year-old Isiah Murrietta-Golding.<\/p>\n

Fresno County District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp stated, \u201cClearly, this family has been seasoned in this type of behavior,\u201d as ABC 30 noted. Smittcamp added, \u201cShe has continued now to take the money from her settlement that she received from the city of Fresno to buy a home where she lives in addition to spending thousands of dollars on guns that she has in turn given to her 14-year-old son.\u201d ABC 30 stated, \u201cProsecutors say she bought guns and gave them to that son to distribute to gang members.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
