This is an age-old story but has a few interesting lessons in it.\u00a0 There is an Army Ranger Airborne Captain – which is most likely legitimate – by the name of Terry Hestilow<\/a>.\u00a0 The link on his name is his real Facebook account.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

For some reason, perhaps his looks or age or both, he has become popular with scammers that duplicate his profile and run love scams on unsuspecting women.\u00a0 These profiles state that Hestilow is single and looking for love.<\/p>\n

Some of the women that got involved with these fake profiles sent a lot of money, some in the thousands of dollars.\u00a0 Word started getting back to Hestilow’s wife and that is how they discovered his photos and name were being used in a\u00a0 scam.<\/p>\n

Wait until I get to the weird part…<\/p>\n

They reported these profiles to Facebook and although Facebook did remove the profiles that had Terry Hestilow’s same exact name, they refused to remove the ones that had variations of his name.\u00a0 They cited that they found “it did not violate their community standards.”<\/p>\n

Here is one such profile, stating the name as Michael Hestilow.<\/p>\n

There are others.\u00a0 We all have an investment in keeping our good names clean.\u00a0 I mean, heck, we may want to use it sometime as leverage.\u00a0 Poor Terry.<\/p>\n

Veteran Finds Facebook Pages Using His Photos to Scam Women<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

After 40 years of marriage, Terry Hestilow and his wife Becky said they’re happier than ever.<\/p>\n

“He’s mine. He’s my man. Has been for a long time,” said Becky.<\/p>\n

But according to a Facebook profile using her husband’s pictures, he’s a widow.<\/p>\n
