This is one I posted a while back, but it seems like a good idea to repost it now, because when the weather gets chilly and you want something hearty, filling and tasty, any thoughts of “on a diet” go right out the window. I did not specify whether your choice of Italian sausage should be sweet or hot, because we have at least one dedicated lover of this dish who prefers the hot Italian sausage. That choice is up to the diner.<\/p>\n
Add some good, fresh, crusty bread, a plate of cut-up veggies and your favorite beverage and tuck in.<\/p>\n
Penne with Italian Sausage \u2013 A One Skillet Meal<\/strong><\/p>\n Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n 3\/4 pound Italian pork sausage<\/p>\n 1-1\/4 cups water<\/p>\n 1 can (14.5 oz each) Hunt’s\u00ae Diced Tomatoes with Basil, Garlic and Oregano, undrained<\/p>\n 1 cup Hunt’s\u00ae Tomato Sauce<\/p>\n 8 ounces dry penne pasta, uncooked<\/p>\n 1\/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese<\/p>\n Directions <\/strong><\/p>\n Step one:<\/strong><\/p>\n Heat large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage; cook 5 minutes, breaking apart with spoon to crumble. Drain; return to skillet.<\/p>\n Step two:<\/strong><\/p>\n Add water, undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce and pasta to skillet; stir to combine. Bring to a boil. Cover; reduce heat and cook 15 minutes or until pasta is tender.<\/p>\n Step three:<\/strong><\/p>\n Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
