As soon as a COVID-19 vaccine gets full approval for use at a certain age group, that age group will be required to get vaccinated. This is the intent for children, in certain age groups, who are K-12. Both public and private schools in California will be impacted. Students will be able to apply for exemptions from this requirement if they qualify.<\/p>\n

Gavin Newsom on Friday announced the nation’s first coronavirus vaccination mandate for schoolchildren, a plan that will have all elementary through high school students get the shots once the vaccine gains final approval from the U.S. government for different age groups.<\/p>\n The government has fully approved the COVID-19 vaccine for those 16 and over but only granted an emergency authorization for anyone 12 to 15.
