Hoffman Estates carjacking: Driver shoots 2 teens during carjacking, police say<\/strong><\/p>\n

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Two 16-year-old boys were shot by a motorist they tried to carjack at gunpoint Friday morning at a gas station in suburban Hoffman Estates, police said.<\/p>\n

As the teens were stealing the car, the man – a concealed carry license holder – took out a gun and shot at the pair.<\/p>\n

The wounded teens ditched the stolen car a short distance away and were gone by the time police arrived, police said.<\/p>\n

The carjacking happened around 5:40 a.m. at a Mobil station at Golf and Roselle roads, police said.<\/p>\n

Later that morning, two 16-year-old teens showed up at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park with gunshot wounds they claimed they got shot in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nA 30-year-old man was taken to the hospital early Friday morning after he was shot by an officer following an incident in which Cleveland police said the suspect lunged at a sergeant with a hatchet.<\/p>\n

Police said the situation started around 12:20 a.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cPreliminary information indicates that officers were called to assist members of Cleveland Emergency Medical Service at West 117th Street and Lorain Avenue due to a male beating their ambulance with a hatchet,\u201d police officials said in a press release Friday morning.\u201c<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
