Gun found after man killed by police outside his N.J. home, officials say<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nInvestigators recovered a gun near a man who was fatally shot by police early Tuesday outside his Gloucester County home after officers responded to a call at his residence, according to authorities.<\/p>\n

Two uniformed Mantua Township police officers responded to a 911 call around 1:35 a.m. for an undisclosed reason at a residence on Elm Avenue in the town, according to the New Jersey Attorney General\u2019s Office, which investigates deaths involving law enforcement officers.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring an encounter outside the house, one police officer fired his service weapon, fatally wounding the man,\u201d the Attorney General\u2019s Office said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Officers provided first aid to the man, who died shortly before 3 a.m. at Jefferson Washington Township Hospital, the statement said. There were no other injuries.<\/p>\n

A .45-caliber handgun was found near the man, according to the Attorney General\u2019s Office. The agency did not release more details on the circumstances surrounding the shooting or disclose the man\u2019s name.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Driver Shoots, Kills Bat-Wielding Man in Philadelphia<\/strong><\/p>\n

A driver shot dead an approaching man who was wielding a baseball bat in Philadelphia early Saturday, police said.<\/p>\n

Before the shooting, which happened just before 12:30 a.m. in front of a McDonald\u2019s near the intersection of East Chelten Avenue and Kenyon Street in the Germantown neighborhood, the man with the bat had exited his car and began approaching the other man, police said.<\/p>\n

The man in the second car then opened fire, shooting the man with the bat in the head, police said, adding that the deceased was in his 40s. The gunman fled the scene before officers arrived.<\/p>\n

Police said the gunman was driving a Chevrolet Camaro, and they were investigating what led to the deadly altercation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
