Pinellas deputies shoot, kill armed man who broke into home, police say<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nCLEARWATER \u2014 Pinellas County sheriff\u2019s deputies shot and killed a man armed with a handgun after he forced his way into the home of an ex-girlfriend and held the gun to the head of a man inside, police said.<\/p>\n

Deputies had been negotiating more than an hour with Josue Arias, 32, of Tampa, when he walked out of the house holding the gun and appeared to be trying to find them, Clearwater Police Chief Daniel Slaughter said during a news conference. Four deputies fired at Arias a number of times, killing him, Slaughter said.<\/p>\n

Arias may have fired his gun once or twice earlier but did not shoot at the deputies before they opened fire, Slaughter said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe deputies fired in response to his reckless nature of coming out and looking for, basically, a firefight,\u201d Slaughter said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Missouri taxi driver kills passenger, wounds self during altercation on interstate<\/strong>
\nInvestigators are not sure what prompted the deadly altercation<\/em><\/p>\n

\nA Missouri taxi cab driver was wounded during an altercation that killed a passenger Wednesday inside the car, authorities said. <\/p>\n

A driver with Laclede Cab in St. Louis County and the passenger got into a scuffle around 4 a.m., prompting the driver to stop on Interstate 55, KMOV-TV reported. <\/p>\n

During the incident, the driver pulled out a gun and shot the passenger, who died from their injuries, Missouri State Highway Patrol Cpl. Justin Wheetley told Fox News. The driver also sustained a gunshot wound, he said. <\/p>\n

“There was obviously a struggle going on when he pulled a weapon,” Wheetley said. <\/p>\n

The driver was taken to a hospital where they underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition. Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the passenger and no arrest has been made. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n
