\nSheriff: Intruder shot, killed after breaking into home, assaulting ex-girlfriend in Mt. Healthy<\/strong><\/p>\n

MOUNT HEALTHY, Ohio \u2014
\nAn intruder was shot and killed after he broke into a Mt. Healthy home and assaulted his ex-girlfriend who was inside, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said.<\/p>\n

It happened Sunday around 2:27 a.m. in the 7000 block of Park Avenue.<\/p>\n

Officials said Gregory Lyle, 33, entered through the window of the home and assaulted his ex-girlfriend who was inside.<\/p>\n

A man living in the house saw Lyle and shot him. Lyle was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nAn Uber driver was beaten and bitten by a paroled armed robber he\u2019d picked at a Route 46 motel but managed to pepper-spray the ex-con and his companion before they could carjack him, Elmwood Park police said.<\/p>\n

Dahmier Garvey, 23, and Johanna Bell, 19, got into his vehicle near the Red Carpet Motel on the eastbound highway early Sunday night, the 36-year-old victim from Wyckoff told responding officers.<\/p>\n

He told them that there was no smoking in the vehicle, he said, and that Uber company police required that both wear COVID masks, Police Chief Michael Foligno said.<\/p>\n

Bell, of Hawthorne wore a mask but Garvey didn\u2019t, the chief said.<\/p>\n

Garvey, of Paterson, had only just been paroled in February after serving 3\u00bd years in state prison four armed robbery convictions involving bodily injury and drug possession in Passaic County, records show.<\/p>\n

The driver told police that he asked Garvey at least five times during Sunday\u2019s ride to put a mask on, he said.<\/p>\n

He said he told both passengers that he would cancel the fare and drop them off if he didn\u2019t.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nA South Carolina homeowner shot and killed an intruder who wouldn\u2019t leave his yard Sunday night, police said.<\/p>\n

Witnesses told officers that an unknown man believed to be in his mid-20s \u2014 who was wearing dark clothes and \u201cacting very strange\u201d \u2014 walked onto their front yard on Farley Avenue in Spartanburg and approached the homeowners, according to a news release from the Spartanburg Police Department.<\/p>\n

He initially refused to leave after the homeowners asked him to do so, witnesses told police.<\/p>\n

After the homeowners demanded that he leave several times, the man eventually walked away.<\/p>\n

But he came back just moments later and started walking up to the home, police said Monday. The homeowner and others repeatedly told him to leave as he continued toward the front door with his hands in his pockets.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
